Kathy Purcell donates $100,000 to Catholic Family Center

September 6, 2018

Rochester, NY… A transformational gift of $100,000 from Kathy and John Purcell will directly
support programs and operations at Catholic Family Center. This is the third gift of its size that CFC has received
as part of its centennial anniversary celebration, following similar gifts by the Philippone and Davitt families.
Together, these are difference-making gifts that will help CFC launch into its next 100 years of service to the Rochester community.

In a statement about the gift, Mrs. Purcell explains “For many years John and I together admired and supported the
work of Catholic Family Center. I am now blessed with the good fortune to be able make a more significant gift in
John's memory. Because his greatest joy in life was making a difference in the lives of others, I know John would
agree that giving to CFC is an excellent way to realize that goal. The work that CFC does for so many in our community —
the homeless, the elderly, the mentally ill, the addicted, the refugee — is needed now more than ever.
Giving at any level will make a difference in someone's life so it is my hope that this gift encourages others to
give as they are able.”

“At a time when demand for our services increases each year, while traditional avenues of support can be stressed,
it is humbling to know that amazing people like Kathy are willing to make a philanthropic investment to support our
mission,” said Catholic Family Center CEO Marlene Bessette. “This type of support is crucial to ensure that our
vital services to the community continue for the next 100 years. We are deeply appreciative of Kathy’s commitment
and that of all of our supporters.”
