September 17, 2024

Tom Golisano announces major gifts to 80 non profits in Rochester area

Rochester, NY (September 17, 2024) – Catholic Charities Family and Community Services (CCFCS) is incredibly honored to accept a $5 million contribution from philanthropist Tom Golisano, announced today as part of a $360 million dollar donation to 80 non-profit agencies across Upstate New York. Golisano’s unrestricted gift to CCFCS totals $1 million a year for five years.

“We are so very grateful to Tom Golisano for his generous gift,” says CCFCS President and CEO Lori VanAuken, who was on hand to accept the donation from Mr. Golisano in a ceremony at the Golisano Institute for Business and Entrepreneurship in Rochester. “Mr. Golisano’s faith in our work is both humbling and inspiring. At a time when non-profits are forced to do more with less, we pledge to be excellent stewards of this remarkable donation as we fulfill our mission to serve our community with care and compassion.”

CCFCS has had a relationship with the Golisano Foundation since 2019. The Foundation has supported several CCFCS initiatives, including funding for the expansion of telehealth services during the pandemic and critical support for renovations at four of our homes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In addition, the Foundation funded a partnership between CCFCS, EPI, the Urban League and IBERO to increase access to self-direction services for underserved individuals with developmental disabilities. CCFCS is so grateful to Mr. Golisano and the Foundation for their generous support, which enables us to provide compassionate care to our clients.
