Employment Services for People with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities

We are grateful to offer several employment services programs for individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including vocational and employment services, job placement services and some on-the-job support services.

Employment Training Program (ETP)

The Employment Training Program (ETP) at Family and Community Services is an internship-based program through Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and the local Developmental Disabilities Regional Office (DDRO). Individuals have the opportunity to participate in Discovery, Job Development, Job Placement and Job Retention program activities. Individuals will work one-on-one with an employment team member to develop skills necessary for success in integrated, competitive employment. Interns are required to attend Job Readiness Training (JRT) classes once a month at the local DDRO.

Supported Employment (SEMP)

Supported Employment (SEMP) at Family and Community Services is provided in collaboration with the Office for People with Development Disabilities (OPWDD). Our Employment Department offers a variety of services to meet the needs of individuals looking to enter or re-enter the workforce. Our SEMP services include:

Intensive and Extended SEMP: assists individuals in gaining and maintaining integrated, competitive employment. Staff work with individuals in career exploration, including career assessments, soft skill training, interview preparation and on-site job coaching.

Community-Based Pre-Vocational Services

This program assists individuals in developing and strengthening soft skills necessary to be successful in integrated, competitive employment. Our team provides support to individuals in group and individual settings.

Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR)

In collaboration with the New York State Department of Education and the local Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) office, Family and Community Services is able to provide support to individuals with disabilities. Services include benefits advisement and work readiness training classes in Livingston and Monroe Counties. Our Work Incentive Practitioners are certified through Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
