Trustee Services

Family and Community Services serves as the trustee for our clients who do not have the natural support or family to serve in that capacity. Our Trustee Services program provides vulnerable clients with the support they need for managing their supplemental needs and basic irrevocable trusts.

This program is funded in part by Monroe County Office for the Aging, New York State Office for the Aging, United Way of Greater Rochester, US Administration on Aging, and participant contributions.

What the Program Offers

We offer nearly 20 years of experience providing culturally competent staff to support trustee recipients. Our organization utilizes the money according to the established goals of the trust, while keeping our client’s best interest in mind. Spanish speaking staff is available to assist when needed.

We do not establish trusts; however, we accept the responsibility of the trustee appointment. The individual will need to employ a lawyer to organize the legal paperwork.

We do not administer pooled trusts; if that is needed, we recommend our partner Balanced Care. Visit Balanced Care to learn more.

Eligibility criteria

Eligibility is on a case-by-case basis. The trust must be reviewed by our CFO and Trustee Services Team before we accept the appointment.

Intake Process

Contact our Trustee Services program at (585) 546-7220 x4099 to set up a review of your trust or situation, and to discuss the next steps.

Program Cost

CCFCS charges a reasonable one-time administrative fee for the opening and closing of the trust account, as well as an annual trust fee determined by the Surrogate Courts Regulation #2309. This fee is based on a percentage of the transactions and value of the assets.

Guardianship

Family and Community Services is appointed as guardian through the court system. In this role, we partner with Monroe County and Adult Protective Services to support the most vulnerable adults who are at risk of being exploited.
