The work of Catholic Charities Family and Community Services would not be possible without the dedication of our staff, who offer compassionate care every single day. They are people like Juan Rodriquez, Assistant Resident Manager of Francis Center, our homeless shelter for men. Juan not only makes sure residents feel welcome; he also advocates for them as they forge a path to more stability and security. It is not easy work. When asked what motivates him, his answer is simple: “It feels great helping others.”
Celebrating our milestones
It is with thanks to employees like Juan and to our generous and giving community of supporters, we continue to mark milestones in service to this community.
- As of 2024, our Food Pantry is one of the only pantries to offer one-on-one, long-term food security case management in addition to fulfilling food requests.
- YouthBuild is now located in a new and improved training facility, allowing us to offer construction job training and support to more young adults than ever.
- In 2023, we were the only agency in the Finger Lakes region to be awarded a nearly $2M NYS grant to provide housing services and emergency financial assistance for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Because of Juan’s help, Miguel was able to transition from emergency shelter to his very own apartment.
